Hi All
When making a manual call from the agent interface I see waiting for ring when call is placed and then it goes to ringing once asterisk recieves the 180 Ringing signal from the carrier.
However on an auto call the Dial Temout starts from when the call is placed. This is a bit of a pain epecially when calling mobiles as it can take 5-10 seconds to get the ringing which means calls hang up before customer gets chance on calls which take a while to get ring, or if we increase timeout we hit a lot more voicemails on calls which are quicker to get ring.
Does anyone know of a way to get vicidial to count the timeout from when the ringing is recieved?
Regards

What country are you calling in? What carrier are you using?

Hi Matt
Were UK based and calling UK. Carrier is sending calls direct to BT no grey routes.
I have done some wireshark traces on the traffic and we see 180 Ringing coming from the carrier consistently.

That might be something we could add as a feature at some point, but older versions of Asterisk and many carriers here in the USA don't reliably differentiate dialing from ringing on outbound telco calls, so we haven't done anything like that as a feature yet.

Ah ok. Was hoping it was either a hidden feature or something someone else had worked on.
Just a wonder, to save me digging through the code, does the dial timeout get done by Vicidial or do you just pass the setting to Asterisk?

The dial timeout is a setting through Asterisk that is an option when the call is launched with an Originate through the AMI.
