Now that sangoma is acquiring digium I am wondering what does it mean with the future of VICIDIAL and other open source projects that relies heavily with Asterisk. Does this mean we should be looking to make vicidial make be more telephony agnostic app (which will require a huge rewrite)?

Given Sangoma's long history of sponsoring other Open-Source projects, I don't see Asterisk going away anytime soon.
And given that Asterisk is GPL licensed, if Sangoma were to poorly manage the Asterisk project, I'm sure that a group(or several) of community developers would fork the code and maintain it going forward.
