alter the tables of mysql could be a problem?

hi,
i have install slackware 10.2.and i find GUI of vicidial.i want to some changes according my requirement in tables of database of mysql. changes like field names of tables.so can it caused be a problem?imean if this field names are used anywhere during your configuration,.

It would cause many problems if you started renaming fields. You would need to look in the code to see what scripts would be affected for certain fields.
