The setup is single server with HP Server with specs of:
INtel Quad Core 2.6Ghz
4GB Ram DDR2
250 GB SATA II

-Asterisk 1.4.30-vici
-VERSION: 2.4-261
BUILD: 100703-1322
-Dahdi current version

Im Having Problem getting HIGH load average during Production for only dialing around 8-10 agents.

Im worried of the numbers it reaches with the Server Load average. Its only 10 agents if i set this to 25 agents might the load is really overwhelming. Any suggestion to lessen up load average.? my hardware specs is a bit high. :(

Linux distro?

Number of CPU cores?

Why is there more than one asterisk process running?

Your system processor load looks really high.

We haven't really tested 1.4.30-vici, this is a test build that we put up there for people to test. The most recent version we have tested is the 1.4.27.1-vici build.

Linux Distro - Ubuntu 8.04 LTS

Number od CPU cores - 4 Cores

Code: Select all
Why is there more than one asterisk process running?

This part im really confused why there are two asterisk running on my system, im not sure about this but during the install i just load the init file vicidial on init.d and also during install with asterisk i also run command make config, because when i wont do that asterisk will not start automatically during reboot by just uisng the init file vicidial..,is this a wrong setup..? please help and make suggestion.

-Does init file vicidial will make asterisk start automatically on reboot no need to run make config on the asterisk side..? this might cause 2 asterisk running

did you try to reinstall? that loads really high, did you try to do a memory cycle, could be hardware

@boybawang

I think the issue is with my process im running 2 asterisk at the same time., this could be when i run make config while installing asterisk and also adding the vicidial init script.,

Just want to know if vicidial inti script can run asterisk automatically on startup on start_asterisk_boot.pl script, coz when i dont do make config on the asterisk compile i rebooted asterisk its not starting at all, i need to spawn it with asterisk command to run. so thats the reason i executed make config and it work. The only problem is as you see i got two asterisk process running at the same time.

when installing asterisk under vicidial , you only do make samples, also with zaptel you dont do a make config, to verify this one you can look at /etc/init.d and youll see all the startup processes there

@boybawang

no not intentionally its just happened that my process may have brought out the issue of having 2 asterisk process on my vicidial server which might be the culprit of high load..

-one question when you compile asterisk on scratch you don't run command make config to build startup script for asterisk right..? you depend on vicidial init script for the asterisk to boot automatically when rebooted

-is vicidial init script includes startup script for asterisk..?

also its impossible to run 2 asterisk process in a single operating system unless chroot'd so if ever the first asterisk service starts up the 2nd asterisk process will just error out telling that asterisk has already been run and tell you to do an asterisk -r to connect to it

@boybawang

Thanks i got it, it drops my load almost 70 percent, now getting 0.56 load avg.

-basically the issue is i used asterisk/zaptel script while using also the asterisk and zaptel (vicidial init script)

-second i used vicidial init script which i installed dahdi, suppost this is for zaptel. now im doing vicidial-dahdi and it work well.

Thanks again for walking through the process.

i guess the conflict came when you loaded the zaptel init script, also if your using ubuntu LTS 8.0.4 you dont need to use dahdi since the 2.6-27 kernel supports zaptel really well, the asterisk 1.4.21.2-vici is also a stable asterisk version, its been running on several servers I have deployed without any problem
