[root@vici ~]# nmap -v -sV localhost -p 5060

Starting Nmap 4.11 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2010-03-22 20:05 EDT
Initiating SYN Stealth Scan against vici.vicidialnow.org (127.0.0.1) [1 port] at 20:05
The SYN Stealth Scan took 0.00s to scan 1 total ports.
Host vici.vicidialnow.org (127.0.0.1) appears to be up ... good.
Interesting ports on vici.vicidialnow.org (127.0.0.1):
PORT STATE SERVICE VERSION

please remember to post whether there is any other software installed on the box when you create your "about my server" blurb.

it looks like you had the server scan itself

on a freshly installed server that is exactly the reading i get as well.

but since your server does not register to itself via SIP, that doesn't really mean much

you need to use SIP debug to find out why your provider refuses you registration (nmap will apparently view SIP closed even when it works, and it makes no difference if SIP on YOUR machine is closed, you are contacting another server for sip, and it is highly unlikely that SIP is closed at your provider ... but if you use SIP debug, you may find out!)
