Hello,

We are looking for reduce our bandwidth and this week we change the settings in the client side (xlite) in order to allow only 729 codec.
So the meetme with vicidial will be on 729, not ulaw.

Also, all our carriers are using 729 codec translation, we only have a carrier using ulaw, and this is the carrier that the agents use when they want to make a sale, because they must be in conference with a 3rd party verification system.

Now its working fine. I was reading in another post that this could be a load issue, can you please enlighten us?

when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and OS with kernel or version, vicidial version and build, asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box.

Similar to This:
Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X Build XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

x-lite does not have a built in g729 codec but eyebeam does, if your server is located remotely then you would need your agents to use g729 to reduce bandwidth, if your server and your agents are on the same location and your sip or iax trunk is located remotely then you can use g729 from your server to your trunk

Thank you for answer.
William we are talking about the servers that we have rented to you, so you know the settings.
What are your recommendations?

LOL

Actually, I'm not positive which one you are! :) (Sorry ...)

Also, I'm not sure I understand the exact nature of the question ... are you looking for "permission" to g729 based on whether or not it will be "too high of a load, possibly?"

In which case ... you must post your server load (and it would also be helpful to post number of simultaneous calls, whether you are recording all calls, etc).

Regardless, you should ALWAYS post your specs when posting on Matt's site, it's proper etiquette to help future users find your post if they have similar setup and educate themselves on this particular issue. And it helps matt's google stats when people do that. And that brings more people to Vicidial. And that makes Vicidial grow. And THAT is a good thing. :) (Post your stats each time ... please, or as much of them as you know).

Um ... which machine number are you? (Comes right after the "PT" as in PT# on the FQDN I sent you ...)
