Is it possible that a caller send information through an IVR, im new to this. may this question might sound stupid. but im trying to set up an IVR system for an estatistic company.
Its main task is to count how many people live in certain areas.
So they want a system that is able to received supervisor calls with the counting for their corresponding area.
Sorry if my english is not that good.
any suggestion would be really greatful.

of course, that can be done. but you'll have to explain it a bit better. find an english speaking friend or an asterisk person who speaks your language.

Ok, let me try to explain it to you.
test scenario:
1. A supervisor calls in.
1.1 Please enter your Identification and password:
2. Is received by a welcome speech and some options, like:
2.1Please specify the area you are assigned to:
2.1.1 a. NY
2.1.2 b. Brooklyn
2.1.3 c. etc...
3. Employee Id:
4. Evaluations made by employee:
and save this information in a database table:
ID_Sup Id_Area Id_Employee Evaluations
1 a 1001 15
4 c 1580 24
I hope this help.
Thanks in advance

yep. that can be done. some in vicidial some in asterisk. depending entirely on the real details.
for instance: "a" NY is not likely to be something that someone will enter on a telephone keypad. Perhaps 'Press One for NY'. But not "A".
Also: the actual method of collecting the information: is someone actually going to log in and put in the full number? or will there be math involved
if someone can log in and place the full number like "area 1001, total 15", why would you not merely put this on a website and have the manager collect the data from the web site, which is quite a bit easier. or is this going to be information collected by a group of agents or a group of outbound recorded messages and will be it getting this information one item at a time ...?

This will be made by a group of agent or people.
and about the website. I'm going to build the website too. the thing is that I'm required to create both systems, as a requirement from these company. for example if the general manager needs the information for the actual day, he could just call some of these people and tell them to fill in the system with this information. even though, that person doesn't have access to internet at that moment.
And another thing, is there a tutorial on how to configure o have this done?
please recommend any site, manual or anything that can help.
Thanks in advance.

this is an asterisk function more than a vicidial function.
asterisk is multi-lingual and has a much larger user base than vicidial does. you'll likely be able to find help in your native tongue.
after you figure out the asterisk functionality OR install vicidial and begin to put together some of the components OR have a DETAILED description of what you need to accomplish, i'm happy to help (and so are others).
