Does anyone know of a website which explains properly how to install software raid on Opensuse? I want to set up raid 6 on our archive server but cannot find proper instructions how to do this on Google.

at this point i'm going to assume that noone here is using software raid on any vicidial systems. i could be wrong, but i don't think so. although it's POSSIBLE on archive servers, most that actually have an archive server would likely just get a box with RAID on the MBD or a sep card.

if you cannot find it in "opensuse", you should look at "linux" instead. software packages that accomplish mundane tasks or often ported from one distro to another quite easily and installation can be similar (or identical) across distros.

if all else fails, install a distro that already has it available during OS installation, or has it easily installed after the fact (although i would expect during OS installation to be simpler). after all, if it's just an archive server the OS really shouldn't matter.

We have several clients using software RAID 1 on OpenSuSE, you can set it up in the install configuration of OpenSuSE
