Vicidial does not detect Answering Machines. AMD does.

AMD is not Vicidial.

AMD is a completely sep package which is installed into asterisk during vicidial installation as a mere convenience. It has its own documentation and project. It is also only about 65% accurate out of the box (on a good day). With tweaking you may get it to 75-80%. (Lots of tweaking)

But since it's not part of Vicidial, this is not really the place to have that discussion (although if you google it, you may find some conversational threads within vicidial, and there may be some users who post an answer!).

If you want actual information, you should be looking for the documentation for the AMD project itself. 8)

If the question simply is how long:

The answer to the question is between 1 and 5 seconds using default settings. It depends on how long the script takes and how many words are spoken.

The fourth variable in extensions.conf (set to 5000 by default) is the "total analysis time" so AMD can take "Up To" 5000 milliseconds (5 seconds) to complete.

In the event that it is too short (if you are worried about short duration call penalties) then you want to address that by playing the "silence10" recording before hanging up. That can be accomplished in the campaign settings, but will tie up your lines for a short period before being available for the next call.

By playing silence10 you will guarantee at least a 10 second (or up to 15 seconds) of connection time which is greater than the threshold that most providers consider "short duration"

If you want to shorten the time then simply edit extensions.conf and reduce the 5000 to whatever works for you.

If you want to see what the other variables are simply check out "amd.conf" in /etc/astersisk to see what they are, but know that the conf settings are overridden in the dial plan.

Hope this helps
