I downloaded OSDial 2.3 version and will be testing the same.

I am doing it as One of my known center said they tried both , Vici and OSdial , for Outbnd calling and They anytime Prefer OSdial.

Any Comments ?

OSdial is a fork of ViciDial 2.0.5 from 2007. It only supports CentOS and it is missing over 100 features that are currently in ViciDial, including quite a few bug fixes. OSdial does have some features that ViciDial does not as well, including outgoing email with templates, but they offer that as a paid add-on only.

Each to their own preferences. Different people has different preferences. Hopefully OSdial's open source project is alive and well. Good to have different options.

OSdial became popular because it had the ability to create custom fields first than vicidial but now vicidial has that kind of feature, stability wise vicidial has an edge over OSdial, basically you can say OSdial is just vicidial that added some features

But Center said that Number of No Answer is Much Lesser in OSDial than in Vici.

That is absurd and irrelevant, maybe they just have the right time to dial and the right dial ratio to achieve higher penetration rate, a good calling list on vicidial with the right campaign settings is just the same as that, basically both of them are just asterisk based, they just command asterisk to dial out and pass an answered call to a vacant agent, so basically asterisk just dials and if it meets the set DIAL TIMEOUT setting it hangs up the call and proceeds to the next number.

we should remember that running a campaign is not point and click, there must be factors and goals that a certain campaign requires, you cant just draw a simple conclusion by just running 2 different campaigns with different lead lists on vicidial and osdial and say that there are alot of no answers in vicidial than in osdial, thats complete bullcrap

I would have to ask if this center actually USES Vicidial to make this comparison. Technically speaking, they both use Asterisk to make the call and asterisk determines whether a call is or is not answered by the response from the Carrier. Not in any way related to Vicidial or OSdial.

I would certainly want to check the motivation of someone making a statement such as that (similar to allowing the Sears Auto Center tell me that one brand of parts is better than another ... that generally indicates they are making a higher profit margin on the recommended part, not that they actually even KNOW if there is a quality difference).

It could also be an issue where Vici isnt tuned correctly. IE dialing above any call per second limit that their carrier may have, too short of a call duration time, too short of a drop time. Could also be that vici is detecting answering machines more frequently.

The only way to compare is over the long haul. In all honesty even thats hard since you never completely know wether it was a situation where people just werent picking up their phones, bad list, etc. All can be very time sensitive.[/list]
