I need to download all my recordings and clear them from my server, I cannot find a tutorial in the full manual re: the best way to do it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

By default the recordings are stored in /var/spool/asterisk/monitorDONE/ folder. There are FTP,MP3,GSM and ORIG sub folders there that will contain your recording files. The ORIG folder will have the original wav files so if they were transcoded to MP3 they will be duplicated as .mp3 files in the MP3 folder.

to download and delete all the recording files you can use Winscp software.

1. install winscp ,
2. login to the server using the ssh root password.
3. go to the /var/spool/asterisk/monitorDONE/MP3 ---> if your recordings are in mp3 format
4. COPY all and drag to any folder on the left side of winscp window.
5. once done select all recording in the MP3 directory and press delete button or right click and delete.

Note: the orginal recordigs in wav will be stored in ORIG directory , it also to be deleted.

If you follow the standard method to create an archive server for recordings using ftp ... this will get you valid copies of all recordings off the server. Then the cleanup scripts can be modified to dump those that have already been moved as quickly as you'd like them to go away.
