Goautodial is an installer. It installs Vicidial. It also installs some "modified screens" for Vicidial that may be construed as "Goautodial", but they are merely modified screens.

Additionally, Goautodial installs some operating system scripts for management of the OS and some utilities for monitoring the OS and running some Vicidial related scripts.

But most importantly: The Vicidial software is there and that is what is running your dialer already. You can even upgrade that installation to a later version of Vicidial.

But this leads me to a question, really: WHY do you think you want to "migrate"? What do you hope to accomplish by doing this?

Here are some guidelines that may be of use to you, please try to adhere to the board guidelines ...:

when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build (if you see "version xxxx build xxxx" on an administration screen ... that is your VICIDIAL version with build, even though some versions of goautodial make this difficult to discern, LOL).

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "from scratch" you must post your operating system and should also post the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Similar to This:

Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600

1) This post is not related to the thread you put it on. That is called Hijacking (not considered entirely polite).

2) However: Welcome to the Party! 8-)

3) Here are some helpful hints (since you're obviously new):

when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build.

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

4) And the best advice I can give you:

First go to eflo.net and download the Vicidial Manager's Manual (free version is fine, but I do recommend the Paid version since you'll likely be making a living with this software for the next few years and the paid version has much more in-depth information).

Second go to Vicibox.com and download the .iso image for the Standard (has more questions) or Preload (fewer questions, but sometimes makes the process more "mysterious and magical" when it really isn't supposed to be! LOL But it does make it easier). This site also has installer instructions which are outside the realm of the manager's manual (the manager's manual is for Vicidial after you've finished the install).

Third: After installation, follow the manager's manual from beginning to end (do NOT skip anything, no matter how smart you are!). If you bump into any problems, open a NEW thread here with an appropriate subject line that is actually descriptive of your problem, and tell us the page in the manual you are up to (and line if you can) and then tell us the problem (with excerpts if appropriate to demonstrate that problem).

5) Happy Hunting! 8-)

1. backup your database mysqldump -p asterisk > asteriskdbbackup.sql
2. Setup vicidial on your new machine without creating a new database
3. dump your asterisk data into it by doing: mysql -p, create database asterisk; use asterisk; \. /path/to/your/asteriskdbbackup.sql
4. then update the table sctructure by doing this on mysql console: \. /usr/src/astguiclient/trunk/extras/upgrade_2.4.sql ; \. /usr/src/astguiclient/trunk/extras/upgrade_2.6.sql
5. exit from the mysql console and run: /usr/share/astguiclient/ADMIN_update_server_ip.pl --old-server_ip=your.previous.goautodial.ip
6. then /usr/share/astguiclient/ADMIN_area_code_populate.pl --purge-table --debug

that's reinstalling. I think he wanted "without installing" to mean upgrading the existing machine perhaps just to a later version of Vicidial. Which can be done with an in-place svn upgrade.

Better yet: Vicidial is already installed, but the links in the documentation go to the Goautodial modified pages. If he used the regular links (/agc/vicidial.php for the agents for instance) he would find Vicidial is already installed and the "migration" is merely using the Vicidial original (unmodified) pages which Gardo has included in the Goautodial distro already. IE: No changes to the system are necessary. Goautodial's modified pages and Vicidial's unmodified pages are both there at the same time, and can even be used simultaneously by different agents and administrators.
