VICIDIAL Training Courses

Postby mflorell » Thu Jan 18, 2007 12:13 pm

I have thought about offering sort of a VICIDIAL bootcamp set of courses where I would give 2 days of intense VICIDIAL training classes over a weekend somewhere here in North America and I was wondering about the interest in this kind of offering.

The cost would probably be on par with other Asterisk training classes, about $1000 per day, and all materials, hotel stay, meals and a basic laptop(which you get to take with you) would be included in that fee for a $2000 2-day training class.

I have thought about having a basic class targeted at operations for room managers, and one on administration targeted at companies installing and maintaining VICIDIAL setups.

Please let me know what you think of this idea and what any suggestions for it you might have would be.

It's not that bad, London to New York is only $250 each way :)

If there is interest in Europe I would certainly have classes there as well.

I have thought about a video course, but that takes quite a while to set up and you don't get the constant feedback and questions that you would get in a class.

Also, a video would be easier to make after some successful classes so I know what to include that people want to know about.

If there is enough interest, a class outside of North America is certainly possible.

As for US Visas, I could do a class in Canada or a Caribbean island to get around the problems people have with getting into our paranoid country.

I am actually working with a company that is going to produce some slideshows that are walkthroughs of how to set up VICIDIAL once it's installed(like in the manager manual tutorials) and I will be doing the voiceover on the video. This is probably the first set of video instructions that will be available. I'll post when something is ready.

Yeah, the f*cking USA Visa is another issue...

Nowadays tools like http://www.cloudmeeting.com could help to make
the course flawlessly.

Or something like this http://www.persony.com/
to start with short online Seminars.

Thank you very much for posting the links. After I've finished some other materials, I will focus on a curiculum for some kind of training session.

Ah, something else.... the payment method.
Please don´t rely on Paypal only. Please bring other alternatives
like Moneybookers.com or 2checkout.com too.

Matt,

I will start thinking about some curiculum ideas here as well perhaps I can come up with some material for the troubleshooting section, lord knows I've done plenty ;) Are there any other specific sections you might need help in?

Getting troubleshooting input from everyone would be great. I am no closer to actually doing any classes at this point, too busy with client work. But as soon as some of that settles and I have released 2.0.3 and revised the manuals, I will start working on this.

First I probably will start with some simple online video tutorials, then if there is demand, creating some classes.

I have also thought of having a mini-conference(VICIDIALcon) at Astricon this year.

Something using robohelp from adobe/macromedia would be easy enough done? Just walk through normal actions. Perhaps add a few bubbles. Record your voice while doing it.

its pretty cool for what it does. However the macromedia tools is pretty cool, easy to edit timelines, comes with some templates (not enough) Set aside some time. Download a 30 day trial and see what you can get done in 30 days. :-)
