Calls Being Dropped sip-silence

Postby Iz3k34l » Tue Feb 12, 2013 5:51 pm

ok so i have installed vici from ViciBox.i686-4.0.3.preload.iso on a Proliant ML350 with a dual quad core 2.5 GHZ w/24GB ram. on VMWare ESXI 5.0.0, with no sangoma hardware or any other software added. I have done the updates as instructed in the installation guide. The only this i have done differently from the installation is switched the zone to external and turned off the firewall, which was done to fix some sip server connection issues.

We have setup a manual dial campaign that works fine, we have setup an auto-dial campaign which is where are running into trouble.

The calls are being made to the phone number in the list we have created no problem, but when a call is either answered or picked up by voice mail the gets dropped (on the callee's end its connected for about 6 seconds) but the agent never knows there was a call connected.

here is the CLI log

Re: Calls Being Dropped sip-silence

According to your cli output, your call was still "local" (Local/1903...) for all the lines of the 8368 dialplan execution. Local means the call has not completed properly. No sound or some other flaw.

Since the call cannot transmit sound, it is never sent to an agent.

So the question is what the difference is between that call and a manual dial call.

Additionally: Do you have g729 installed? (if you have not installed it yourself, you do not ... as such it should not be "allow=g729" so delete that line)

Thank you for your help,

i went ahead and installed on a physical device 3ghz proc. and 2gb ram, using the same iso as was virtualized. I set up two separate campaigns, the first was manual only campaign, which as expected worked fine. I then copied that exact campaign to create an auto campaign using the same list, lead recycling etc... and again the calls are being disconnected as dropped calls when they are answered, the scenario is the same whether dialing land-lines or cell phones. i did install the g729 codec myself on both machines.

I dont understand the significance of the call being "local" or not and what is should be. I ask because both manual and auto dial scenarios have the leading "local" before the conference number and the phone number.

thanks again

When a manual dial is generated, it goes through a completely different process, and it is always generated as Local, directly from the meetme room. Since it issues from inside the meetme room, there is no "check" to see if it is still local later. And if you get Sound, it's no longer local as it has been bridged. But autodialed calls are not placed into the meetme room with an agent until after they have been answered and confirmed "live". If they are never answered, the routine marks them unanswered based on the reason (cancel, congestion, busy, etc) and of course does not bother sending the call to an agent. If they are answered, but not "LIVE", they are still not routed to an agent as that would waste the agent's time (why have an agent connected to a client they cannot hear?).

So you'll need to compare the debug output from the manual dial and auto-dial calls and see if you can find the difference. And next time, perform all this testing before making any actual changes to the server (like g729 ...). After all, these stock machines are running all over the world without fail. Something is obviously different about YOURS. The one thing your two installations have in common (aside from non-functional autodial) is ... You. So, don't put in g729 or any other cool special personal touches before testing autodial. That may get you where you want to be.

Of course, I still recommend troubleshooting in debug mode to find the ACTUAL problem, but that can be elusive when the call remains local.

can you help us trace this down? there has been no changes to the files...this was a clean install of vicidial 4 we added the carrier, made a campaign and added 3 numbers to the call list.

compare the debug output from the manual dial and auto-dial calls
I only see CLI outbput (no debug for SIP ...) and do not see anything resembling a comparison between the two call types.

Also worthy of note: We do not use the preload ... so I am unfamiliar with its methods. Did you, for instance, change the IP address after installation?

William are you available on chat? we have done everything we can think of here...we are just trying to get a proof of concept running.

We had osdial up and running and did auto and manual calls just fine -- but don't like the lack of support/updates
we can get vicidial up and doing manual calls just fine...this is both on a VMWARE machine and Physical machine....both with the preload.iso and the standard.iso

Would love to chat with you online, maybe you can tell me some commands to run to get the debug info you are requesting and bounce ideas of eachother.

thanks!
