OpenSIPS Virtualized

Postby Acidshock » Thu Mar 14, 2013 5:33 pm

Has anyone virtualized opensips in a production environment? I was wondering how it performed. I have a box that I am thinking of using for an OpenSIPS server but its so overkill I almost want to virtualize the server in order to give me some flexibility.

If you have a machine that powerful, virtualizing it should not be a problem. But it depends on your expected load. Also be sure you will (at some point in the future ...) be able to convert to a physical install.

That being said, I'd like to hear the result of "how many calls at once" on an OpenSIPs virtual server (and which type of virtual it is ...). If you make it live, please post your max as you raise up from time to time to keep us apprised. We use it virtual only for testing. No client wants to risk it and we can't do it without their knowledge. Others may do that, but I work at PoundTeam. We don't mess with people like that. LOL
