Ok, so we have been using a 3 year old vicidial and i need to upgrade sooner rather then later - I am wondering is it as simple as running yum install vicidial or is it something more complex?

Its a bit more complex, post all necessary information such as what system you got, version and build.

And make a backup before you start the upgrade, also check the backup so the files are OK, try to restore the backup on a space PC or a virtual machine.

It's a little bit more complex than that. Are you using GOautodial/VicidialNOW or Vicibox as your system?
