Mysql load is too high

Hi There.

We have an HP Proliant DL5810 G5 Server with 32GB RAM and 4 quad cores running at 2,9GHz. The machine is setup as our db. Lately we've been encountering issues where agents wait for about 10 minutes for calls to come through but the real time report shows the average wait time for agents is only 22 secs. While that is happening, load on the db becomes very high (Between 2.9 and 3.5).
Using htop we cannot see any weird processes running except for MySQL abusing the CPU. Other processes show a normal usage of 10% to 20% but MySQL shows 298%.

Thanks.
