This is my setup:-

2xDialers
-Dual core Xeon 2.80GHz
-1GB

2xTranscoders
-Pentium 4 3.0GHz
-1GB

1xDatabase
-Pentium 4 3.0GHz
-2GB

Currently, we run an average of 65 agents on this hardware, split between both dialers. We are planning to increase the number of agents to 150.

What I have noticed though is that the current database machine is barely handling the load of both dialers as they both share that single database.

Would it be possible for someone to provide me with a recommendation of a database machine that would comfortably handle 150 agents dialing simultaneously?

I would recommend at least a quad core CPU with as much RAM as you can get (4-8GB at least) if you want to be able to handle 150 agents. And don't forget to do SCSI RAID 10 too. I have several large esetups like this and the Database is really where you want to put your most powerful machine. The more RAM the better. Of course you also need to set the my.cnf file to be optimized for your configurations as well.

Alright, I have these 2 choices:-

Would choice 1 suffice for 150 agents comfortably? If I can avoid spending all the extra cash, then I'd opt to do so. If not, then I'll do what's necessary.

I would very much recommend using SCSI RAID instead of SATA. Other than that the systems look OK.

but do you think that choice 1 suffice for 150 agents comfortably or should I go with the second choice?
