sure, i ll give it a try. lil busy at work these days, i also have other ideas, like was just thinking about if we can use freeswitch conferences instead of asterisk confs (meetme).

freeswitch is a great peace of code, we have replaced asterisk with freeswitch at work, runs perfect on xen as well, no timing issues.

by the way, i love mod_events, mod_events sends beautiful xml messages, easy to parse and catch

We've talked about the many issues with switching VICIDIAL to use FreeSWITCH, bottom line is it will cost a lot of time and money and it will require some core development of FreeSWITCH to be done which is no easy task. In the end it's not really worth the effort and lost development time for the VICIDIAL project.

you are right, well i am not thinking about asterisk replacement, i was just thinking it would be really cool if setup freepbx just as a conference server, i.e. asterisk vicidial will be handling conferences using freepbx instead of meetme, i see freepbx conference are much better than meetme

FreePBX? that's just Asterisk with a front-end GUI. FreeSWITCH can use a software timer, but if you get into high loads the sound will have issues just like in Asterisk unless you use a hardware timer.

As for "just using the conferencing" of FreeSWITCH, that is not an option, the conferencing engine has to be integrated with the PBX functionality or VICIDIAL will not work. FreeSWITCH still has many feature limitations that make it unsuitable for VICIDIAL integration, and I do not see those limitations being filled any time soon.
