Hi, I have been hired as system administration manager to this new Vicidial Server. And got problems where to start learning all the stuffs needed.

Is it?
1. Learn programming Asterisk.
2. Mysql
3. Php
4. Other - like Linux (different distro)

My background is I am a window person handling windows server 2003 and very new in this open source program.

And was studying asterisk and jump to mysql got my head into garbles (hope you understand want I mean) and end up in confusion.

I like to grasp what is Vicidial really all about.

Hope you can give me tips where to start with (steps by steps) till to the finish.

Thanks I hope Matt will answer my burden.

Truly yours,

Enavaro
(Forgive my English I'm not good at it)

By no means its an end all fix all stuff but

First thing first. Get and read the manager's manual. You can get it from www.eflo.net/store.php

once you fully understand what is what which is which. then venturing out to other areas is fairly simple.

Basically Vicidial are perl & php scripts which uses asterisk to make and receive calls, if you want to study what it is then you should study this components:

Asterisk (this is a must), get the TFOT2 PDF from the net
Linux
MySQL
Vicidial Scratch Install Document
Apache / Httpd web server

If your on windows and just want to practice at first you can use VMWARE and install linux as the guest operating system for you to practice installing vicidial

Don't forget to read some Linux Basic book to use the command line.
