Vici and Sound Card and Volume

PostPosted: Tue Nov 10, 2009 2:04 pm

Today we have installed VicidialNOW CE version in a 24 seats centers.

All was absolutely smooth.

Except pone thing.. all agent were experienced and they say in PARSEC, hard dialer, sound is so clear and loud , that they cant express in words.

I heard the sound and its normal same as like in my center.

I though it can setting issue , so I checked all and found all FULL VOLUME top volume.

I use G729 codec.

Would like to know :

Which SOUND CARD works best as Vici Group ?

I CANT hear bad thing about Vici, just due to sound and volume , specially when ppl talk abt PARSEC which cost in 20k$$ for 30 seats plus hardware like AUDIOCODE!!!

I even got request where ceNters said to me that can we use Audiocode with Vici to increase the volume !!

We recommend using USB headsets. Sound card shouldn't matter.

Any Particular make ?

as that center is ready to invest toward headset But I am not ready to hear bad words abt Vici and GOOD abt Parsec !!!

How abt Plantronics .Audio 750 DSP PC USB Headset ?

We have had very good quality from Logitech USB headsets. As for Plantronics, the really cheap ones do not seem to last as long or sound as good.

Thanks Matt.

I will buy today itself , if available and try it out.

Silly question but , sound card also needs to have USB slot/port ?

And, which card as VICI suggest OR which sound card Vici Group' centers are using ?

PostPosted: Wed Nov 11, 2009 2:48 pm
by mflorell
Sounds cards generally do not have USB ports.

I do not think that an extra sound card is necessary.

Agree.

Doesn't need sound card.

Plantronic 400 DSP Headset works perfectly with Vici.

1) Is that Asterisk which Controls the sound ?

Like we have Vol Up and down in Agent Interface. Now when we click , it does it go to asterisk and control the volume ??

2) Also, when we dial from xlite manually, VOLUME is crystal loud and clear but when we try the agent interface , its very fad. I tried increasing the volume from the Agent Interface but no much change.

Any advice why its so ?

What are you using for a zaptel timer?

Asterisk version?

1) What are you using for a zaptel timer? : HOW to FIND this ?

zttest return me :

2) Asterisk 1.2.30.2

you are using Ztdummy.

I would suggest buying a Sangoma VoiceTime USB stick or some kind of TDM card to provide hardware timing for meetme. This will fix your audio quality issues when going through ViciDial.

Againa silly question but

1) Sangoma VoiceTime USB stick , where I get more info about it

http://help.trixbox.com/Troubleshooting ... _Device%3F

2) Price I see is around 100$ , which is Pretty cheap if that can solve the problem.

3) Cant we use audiocodec and resolve the issue? We have 2 AudioCodec of 48 ports each

--- Results after 844 passes ---
Best: 100.000000 -- Worst: 99.780273 -- Average: 99.953903

So, after I install Sangoma USB, there will be NO DEAD calls and also VOICE qlty will IMPROVE ?

I never mentioned anything about Dead calls.

I agree BUT again here goes a silly Ques ::

When we dial Manually from Xlite , it doesn't use ztdummy ?

OR it uses but ztttest in case of manual is 100% always , thats why , qlty is so good !!

{ I am planning to ordered Sangoma for 110$ but no stock now, so will take another 7 days }

We have Voicetime USB modules in stock here today(both internal and external). We charge $70 + shipping for them.

How much is the shipping time and shipping cost ?

When we dial Manually from Xlite , it doesn't use ztdummy ?

OR it uses but ztttest in case of manual is 100% always , thats why , qlty is so good !!

PostPosted: Fri Nov 13, 2009 12:36 pm

That depends on where we would be shipping to...

to India

Sorry, we don't ship to India, we've had all sorts of issues in the past so we won't ship over there.

I have installed ViciBox around 4-5 months back in one of the set up and when I did zttest , avg was not less than 99.9% .

But in ViciDialNOW CE, its less.

Is it due to OS which is being used OR the way it install things ?

For remote Installation, I use VicidialNOW CE and for local I use ViciBox.

zttest gets worse as load gets higher. We have heard newer kernels with Dahdi are better, but on a high load system there is no replacement for a dedicated hardware timer.

In a load balanced system, is one of these devices required for each Asterisk server? How much to ship to South Africa?

PostPosted: Sun Nov 15, 2009 8:52 am
by mflorell
You need one for every server that will have agents on it.

Looks like we can do 6-10 day shipping for $15, if you want it overnight it's $90. The Voicetime modules we sell for $70 each.

you can also use a x100p original digium or the clone as a timing device, works well except on Dell and HP motherboards, it uses a PCI slot though

PostPosted: Mon Nov 16, 2009 12:29 am
by boybawang
also it could help if you disable the built in sound card and video card, sometimes it conflicts with IRQ as to make your zttest results good.

PostPosted: Mon Nov 16, 2009 1:03 am
by gmcust3
How to disable the same in CentOS i.e sound card ?

I am using VicidialNOW CE 2.0.5 version..

and x100p original digium is cheaper than VoiceTime ?

PostPosted: Mon Nov 16, 2009 1:05 am
by boybawang
an x100p is cheaper you can try getting one at x100pDOTcom, you disable the on board sound card on the motherboard settings and not from the operating system.

also try using vicibox and compare.

PostPosted: Mon Nov 16, 2009 10:22 am
by mflorell
The X100P unfortunately does not work on a lot of newer systems like Dell servers, so something like the VoiceTime USB stick is the next cheapest option.

I have IBM System x3650

After installing USB stick, what if i Decide to use Ztdummy ?

Do I need to roll back the command given for USB stick ?

PostPosted: Tue Nov 17, 2009 6:12 am
by boybawang
you just need to edit the vicidial startup file either and set it to load the ztdummy module instead of the usb time module

in centos i believe it could be in /etc/rc.local or if a service was installed it would be under /etc/init.d or /etc/rc.d directories just check for a file named vicidial

Recieved my USB.

Let me install and update.

Though I am looking for Install procedure :-(

Sangoma Voicetime USB comes in loose ?

PostPosted: Sat Nov 21, 2009 10:56 am

if you try out vicibox server it already comes with a patch for the usb timer

PostPosted: Sat Nov 21, 2009 11:00 am

You meant to say Patch cant be applied on ViciDialNOW ?

OR

If I apply the patch then USB timer is NOT required ?

Hi Matt

How do I go about ordering Voicetime USB modules from you?

Just contact sales -at- vicidial.com

We typically do not ship outside of the USA and Canada, but we can help you find a local Sangoma distributor if you are in another country that these.

Thanks. You previously said you can ship to me (15 November). The local suppliers' prices are ridiculous!
