vicidial_auto_calls what script populates lead_id

Need some help here, my head is spinning. I'm doing an integration for a client and I need to intercept at the point where a lead is looked up and the lead_id is populated in vicidial_auto_calls. I need to perform a lookup in another database to see if that number is there first and pull that information. If not then callback to the vicidial_list. I'm poking around in the agi-bin as I figured it was a bit lower level but all I see are inserts into live_inbound_log.

Any advice? Am I down the wrong rabbit hole?
