how much resources do recordings use?

Postby bobbymc » Wed Apr 30, 2008 12:01 am

The first question is what does it use more? ram or cpu? And how can i reduce its load? does gsm or wave have differences in reosurces consumption?

I realized that recordings take allot of my overall resources of the server. More ram and cpu. The box runs on a emc iscsi unit with a 1 gig connection to it.. i dont think the hard drive is the bottle neck.

Anyway please tell me as much about recordings as possible and maybe what other areas use the most resources in vicidial..

Thanks

Are you recording to RAM drive or tmpfs, or are you recording to harddrive?

moving recording off of a hard drive to tmpfs or RAM drive will dramatically lower your load, especially if you are recording all calls.
