Amfeltec Timers

Postby byteme2000 » Fri Apr 04, 2014 10:09 am

I'm using 4 Amfeltec pcie timers and just started using 1 of their USB timers and the timers were inplace before I loaded ViciDail.

Is there anything I need to do to get them to be recognized by ViciDail or does it see them and do what needs to be done on it's own?

I've seen several posts that give different answers to this question. Most of them are old posts and was wondering what the correct answer is now.

Thanks for your help.

Vicibox should have the necessary drivers loaded for the PCIexpress Amfeltec timers. Just to make sure, run these commands on the CLI and you should get similar results:

dial:~ # lspci | grep Exar
05:00.0 Serial controller: Exar Corp. Device 0352 (rev 03)

dial:~ # lsmod | grep voicesync
voicesync 14175 0
dahdi 198897 3 voicesync
usbcore 192983 4 voicesync,uhci_hcd,ehci_hcd

I don't have much experience with their USB drivers, and I usually try to avoid USB for timers due to the instability of the protocol.

Matt, thanks for the reply. That is what I thought and hoped. I just got the usb timer the other day to use on backup servers.
