Vicidial GUI not changing sip.conf/sip-vicidial.conf carrier

Postby corkuck » Wed Feb 29, 2012 8:32 am

Just installed from the ViciBox_Redux.i686-3.1.15.preload.iso . Paid the 150.00 for the manuals.

Problem is: We go into add Carriers then Submit it is not changing the sip.conf file?

What am I missing?

I can manually type in sip.conf save it, see it. Then see it in sip show peers?

When we create a phone they reg. but not trunks through the ViciDial GUI after being submitted?

By the way what is the proper way to say ViciDail?

Vicidial does not alter the sip.conf file in any way. It alters the sip-vicidial.conf file, and only active carriers are entered there, so check that Active=Y is on that carrier entry and that it is assigned to the proper server_ip.

First of all thank you for your help!!!!.......

Here is a CUT and PASTE from: sip-vicidial.conf below.

My VICIDIAL server IP address is 10.161.124.55 this is the only Server IP address to select in the VICIDAIL GUI under carriers so this is what I selected or should I say defaults to. Then I did select ACTIVE to Y meaning "YES". Then submitted it. Still no joy in the sip-vicidial.conf file as shown below.

Any more help would be greatly appreciated?

OK so even if just use the VICIDIAL SIP example in carrier by ACTIVE=Y change the default IP to my VICIDIAL server IP (10.161.124.55) and submit it. It still isn't modifying the: extensions-vicidial.conf or the sip-vicidial.conf files.

What in the heck am I missing?

I'm really not sure what the problem would be then, we never install the preload ISO ourselves so it is possible that there could be a bug, but without seeing the system I couldn't speculate.

I've experienced that in situations where someone changed the IP address of a server manually on the GUI and not used the correct script provided by Vicidial.

There is a script that runs every minute to update the changes to .conf files and it filters changes to one specific IP address.

If this is a test installation I recommend trying it from the beginning and using a static IP address always.

I bet you are right!!!!!
I did move from DHCP to Static. If you were closer I would give you a big hug or High Five depending on your preference. I THINK YOU ARE RIGHT!!! This is where I will turn my efforts now.

Thank you so much for responding. It's amazing how the sharing of someones incite or experience can help others so much and save so much time.

Hope to do the same for many.

Thank you.

That's where I'm going now to get this thing going.

Or thought's were to Stage it first, check it out see if it's any good. Then move it to production at one of our facilities.

Thank you again.

That did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, thank you. I cd /usr/share/astguiclient then run ADMIN_update_server_ip.pl by putting in perl ADMIN_update_server_ip.pl
I said I wished to do this with interaction. Rebooted and now everything works as it should in the GUI.

If you aren't learning something every day what are you doing?

I have learned allot to day, well the last three days. Thank you everyone.

Hope this documentation helps the next poor dog.

I'm glad I could help, this IP thing is very important, every time you change the IP address you have to run the ADMIN_update_server_ip.pl script, otherwise Vicidial won't work properly.

What's the distinction between a static ip address, as configured in yast, versus having the router assign a static ip address based on the MAC address for the NIC?
