Canadian Caller ID Name Display

Postby rosetown » Tue Apr 21, 2015 1:55 pm

I am an outbound call centre based in Canada, that calls almost exclusively within Canada. We recently switched over to a Canadian VOIP provider, that sends name display information along with the Caller ID. For some reason, vicidial/asterisk is sending some very weird name information (read: random characters, usually starting with a V).

Ideally, I would like to be able to set the name display on a per campaign basis, but can't seem to find anything in the managers manual about that.

At a minimum, I'd like to be able to not send name display information at all.

I resolved this issue for some of my clients by editing the dial command on the gateway to manually insert a hard coded value (usually the campaign outbound CLI). The variable you need to set varies in different asterisk versions but a quick google search should get you the right one.

Mind you this is not very flexible, and usually can be done by your provider for you on his end. There's probably a better solution to this I just haven't looked into it o.O
