VARserver_ip => ???

Postby THUFIR » Sun Mar 22, 2015 5:23 pm

I have the router/modem/gateway:

http://www.cisco.com/web/consumer/suppo ... C3825.html

set to always give 192.168.0.99 to the server through a pre-assigned DHCP address reserved by MAC address. I clicked "server" and entered the ip address for the server:

Code: Select all
SERVER LISTINGS:
SERVER ID   NAME   SERVER IP   ACTIVE   AGENT   ASTERISK   TRUNKS   GMT   MODIFY
linux-k7qk   Server linux-k7qk   192.168.0.99   Y   Y   1.8.29.0-vici   23   -5.00   MODIFY

why doesn't this change propagate to astguiclient.conf?

Code: Select all
linux-k7qk:~ #
linux-k7qk:~ #
linux-k7qk:~ # /usr/share/astguiclient/ADMIN_update_server_ip.pl
Previous astGUIclient configuration file found at: /etc/astguiclient.conf

Please always post your Vicidial Version with Build (required! part of the agreement to get Free Help here ... 8-) ). Note that the installer version you posted below is useful, but that installer can install ANY version of Vicidial (it will install older versions upon request, and that happens a lot when customizations lock users into specific versions, but they need a fresh server for a new project ...).

Back to our regularly scheduled help:

Because the IP is not supposed to be changed with that method.

When you log in via SSH there is a splash screen. It is meant to avoid this moment and says:

Code: Select all
To change the server IP in the database type:
/usr/share/astguiclient/ADMIN_update_server_ip.pl

You should see this every time you log in to the console.

All you did by changing the IP in Admin->Servers is tell the system that there is a server with that IP address. But you never told THIS server what it's IP was (astguiclient.conf file) nor did you assign any resources to this server (phones? conferences? ... everything else ...?). Thus there is a perl script to accomplish this task for you.

The only thing it's likely to miss is the "externip=" setting in /etc/asterisk/sip.conf (which may or may not change, depending on your PUBLIC IP).

Happy Hunting 8-)
