Web Configuration issue after fresh install of vicibox 7

Postby Brian700 » Tue Apr 19, 2016 9:33 pm

Hi all

i am completely new to servers, diallers and to this forum, i am just trying to install a dedicated server as a dialler for a small call centre through you tube and all the knowledge that i can grab on internet. i have so far installed vicibox-7 and i created a new user and through basic help from manager manual of vicidial i was able to connect to x-lite through phone settings in admin after that i am unable to get where exactly i need to go and how to do i configure it?

My motive is to make it dial for 10 seats. (dedicated server)
I am trying hard but i could only get this far....any help??

Thanks
Thanks & Regards

Best method: Start at page one of the Vicidial Manager's Manual and don't skip any pages. Keep going until everything you need works. If you have already done some of it, start at page one anyway. You'll get there.

And if you screw anything up, delete what you did and go back to the beginning of that section and try again.

If you can't make something work ... come back here and post:
1) Subject line: Error you received or description of problem (NOT "vicidial problem please help" LOL)
2) The version/page/line of the manual you're on. "Vicidial Manager's Manual vX.X.X/Page X/Line X"
3) The problem
4) the entries you created that should have worked ...
5) What you expected/wanted to happen
6) What actually happened

Details. Copy/paste. Not "it won't connect".

And we'll walk you through it. One page, one step at a time until you get everything up and running.

Most importantly: If you have not had any errors, but you have not yet gotten everything working that you need ... keep going in the manual. Don't skip anything. If you have not reached the back cover, you're not done unless everything you want already works.

No skipping around. 8-)

Not to be a jerk, but: it's somewhere after page one of the manual. You'll get there.

1) phpMyAdmin or direct access through mysql on the command line to modify the settings of the user that's still there

2) you can use the db creation script in /usr/src/astguiclient/trunk (it'll be in a subfolder, and it'll end with .sql and probably have the word "create" in it ... you can probably grep "vicidial_users" to find it) and extract the vicidial_users table entries to get them back OR to find the broken entries and fix them with proper values. Or you can experiment with adjusting all the permissions on your user to "allow" everything ...

3) Never Fear the Reinstall. If you start over 5 or 6 times, you'll eventually realize that it's free software that can be reinstalled every day if you get bored and you don't have to call the Microsoft Hotline to get a new product key/activation code/dongle every time. Get used to the installation process and you'll feel a lot better about managing this software down the line. Of course, if you play with the DB for a while first and get it running, THEN reinstall, you'll have the best of both worlds. Experience in several layers.

4) Is this a good time to introduce you to the script in /usr/share/astguiclient containing the word "backup" ....? 8-)

Code: Select all
crontab -e

add to bottom (be sure there are NO linebreaks, they all start with # except the "45" line with the actual script on it):

Code: Select all
## Vicidial Backup - without web files or sounds (change if you modify web files or recordings)
## Leave before midnight in case of "emergency backup" during the day ... don't overwrite LAST backup, make a new one!
45 23 * * *  /usr/share/astguiclient/ADMIN_backup.pl >/dev/null  2>&1
#options: --db-only --db-without-logs --without-web --conf-only --without-db --without-conf --without-web --without-sounds
#         --without-voicemail --without-crontab --ftp-transfer --debugX --debug --test
