Massive upgrade from old box

A client of mine has a requirement to use PJSIP but is using Asterisk 1.8 and OpenSUSE 42.3, never done updates since 2018.

Is it OK to just change repos for OS and to a full OS upgrade, and then upgrade vicidial with latest trunk?

no you can not upgrade from tumbleweed to leap 15.2 or 3, and pjsip isnt integrated into vicidial yet, asterisk yes, vicidial no

We've done some testing with PJSIP and Asteirsk 16, and the configuration system for PJSIP is VERY different from how standard chan_sip works. We haven't had much time to focus on adding it, but it is on our list.

My suggestion for now would just be to use a new Asterisk server with PJSIP on it as a gateway server, that way you don't have to mess with your existing VICIdial system much, except for adding a new carrier entry for the PJSIP box.
