Direct All RTP to Switch

Postby nomanaziz » Wed Sep 11, 2024 2:24 pm

Hi everyone,

I have Vicidial set up to send calls to my billing server, which then forwards the calls to the vendor. However, as the call progresses, the RTP traffic goes directly from Vicidial to the vendor, bypassing the billing server. I want to ensure that all traffic, including RTP packets, goes through the billing server without bypassing.

Switch: VOS3000
Asterisk: 16.3
ViciDial: 11.0

1) you should post your entire Vicidial correct configuration information. For instance: ViciBOX is the installer and is presently in 11.0.X. ViciDIAL is the actual software and has versioning more like "VERSION: 2.14-858a BUILD: 220513-0819". Note the inclusion of the Build. This is important. (Visible on most admin screens, bottom left corner).

2) Your assertion that you are using "Vicidial 11.0" is a clear indicator that you are New Here. Welcome to the Party!

3) If you expect your Billing Server to handle AUDIO (which you are calling "RTP packets", you must first check to see if it is capable of accepting and passing through audio packets. Some physical systems do not actually handle audio, only billing (allowing thousands of calls at once, but No Audio only management).

VOS3000 Softswitch Performance:
-Single server: up to 10,000 concurrent calls
-Media forwarding capability: 4,000 concurrent calls
-Call per second: 1200CPS (4,320,000BHCA)
-Supported Protocol: SIP, H323, HTTP, TCP/UDP

This google find seems to indicate media can be passed through a VOS3000 system. So we're heading in the right direction. But of course, we'll need to be sure you are not exceeding capacity (4000 simultaneous calls?). Shouldn't be a problem, but have to check. LOL.

Next up: This seems to be something you configure in the VOS3000 system itself. While this is outside the Realm of Vicidial, someone on here may have direct experience with this equipment and help you out. Otherwise you can try to find a VOS3000 support forum. Or you can try finding the manual, or even hiring someone to dive into it remotely.

You may also want to share your reasoning. There's a reason most billing systems do not handle the audio (capacity, reliability). If you want to force it to, there must be a reason ...
