Asterisk 1.4 patches ?

Postby aster1 » Wed Mar 12, 2008 1:57 pm

Is there any patches needed to run vicidial 2.0.4 with latest 1.4 branch ? Anyone using it ? Any issues ? Scratch install contain a few patches to be done on 1.2 like cli_concise and meetme . Are they applicable to 1.4 ?
I am available for part time support and remote installations :)

Everything except for the new enter/leave sounds are already in standard 1.4.X releases, so no patches should be needed.

You can use Asterisk 1.4.18 and higher. but you should look at the differences in the 1.4 example of extensions.conf that is in the VICIDIAL codebase for changes to the dialplan. things like callerID variable names have changed in 1.4 from 1.2.

Also, make sure you put the proper Asterisk version in the asterisk version field of the servers table.

Do you think that 1.4.18 is stable enough?
Should we wait much longer to upgrade? If so, would it make more sense to jump directly to 1.6 once it get stable and supported by VD

1.4.18 is fairly stable, and for light to medium VICIDIAL call volume you could try it at this point. It is not quite to the level of 1.2.26.2 but it is much better.

I would not recommend 1.6 at this point. VICIDIAL can get Asterisk 1.6 to crash very regularly after a couple of hours.
