Auto dial not working...

Postby agentO » Sun Nov 02, 2008 9:12 pm

Hi,

I've installed Asterisk on a seperate server from the database and the web server and got the manual dialling working but the astguiclient is not auto dialling when an agent logs in. Im sure that the agent interface is working because it auto dials when I point it to the old asterisk server.

Im using Slackware with a 2.4.33 Linux Kernel and copied all the configuration files in /etc/asterisk of the old server and used its ip, By the way, I'm having problems installing Zaptel on Linux 2.4.33. Does Vicidial require Zaptel for the autodial feature?

Thanks!

Did you change the IPs to reflect the new database server? is the new database server running the same version of the database as the old server?

Hi Nortelguy, thanks for the reply.

We already have a working setup, An Asterisk server, a database server and a web server on seperate boxes. I'm just working on getting another Asterisk server up and running. What I did to test it was I unplugged the working Asterisk server and plugged the one I was working on and used the IP of the working Asterisk.

I tried doing a "screen -r" on the new server and all the scripts appeared including ASTVDautodial.pl

I have no clue why it won't autodial.. help please..

Attach to the screen and post some of the output as agents are logged in.

See if there are entries in the vicidial_auto_calls table if there are no agents logged in.

Check if there are any contexts in your extension.conf that don't have the 'h' exten in them.

I attached to the ASTVDautodial.pl and even though there are agents logged in, the screen still shows that there are 0 agents logged in.

what does that mean??

What are the statuses of the vicidial_live_agents table entries?

Do you have more than one server in your setup?

The agent's id registered in the vicidial_live_inbound_agents table.

the screen log for ASTVDauto still shows no agents..

there are no entries in the vicidial_live_agents even though there are agents logged in. Am I suppose to configure blended call dialing in the asterisk?

Im not familiar with the 'h' extension but I know its already configured properly in the extensions.conf because i copied it from the working asterisk.

the "h" extension is the extension for "hangup". This is called whenever asterisk detects normal shut down of the channel.

very useful for "closing things out" just like shutting down a computer or exiting a program. if you cannot find a simple solution, you CAN use "h" as a temporary solution while awaiting true troubleshooting and actual resolution. find a line of code or a script that will turn off the recording and place it in the "h" routine to force the shutdown of the recording.

If there is nothing in vicidial_live_agents while you are dialing then something is very wrong with your installation.

since you did not apparently do the "scratch install", you may have missed some of the cron jobs etc from the install. you should consider going through the scratch install to see if anything is missing. (in fact, you may want to consider just re-installing with a scratch install, could take less time than finding the missing piece, unless you have someone "log in and look".) Alternately, you can check for running processes against the two (one working one not) machines and find your difference. not that i've ever done THAT before. LOL

Actually i did followed "scratch install" that's why I'm using Slackware right now but I was unable to compile the Linux kernel correctly to 2.6 after trying 10x because the image just won't boot, and I'm having problems installing Zaptel with the 2.4.33 kernel.
