Soft phones don't register after update.

Postby rwfaught » Thu Apr 19, 2012 2:21 pm

We recently had to reload two servers in two locations. williamconnelly if you're reading this it's Roger and you got my main server up and running. On the other server I had a tech at our co-lo facility load vicibox to the point where I could take over the installation. After the install I imported the backed up database and ran updates according to the instructions in the file under /usr/src/astguiclient/agc_2.2.0/UPGRADE. When that is finished my data appears to be intact, lists, users, phones, etc. But when we try to register any phone, even a newly created one, I get "wrong password" at the CLI. I checked the phone passwords and they are all correct including the conf secret. Except I am not positive about that last one... I don't believe I changed anything from default during the install and I made sure that password is test. This is the password that I would see under sip.conf under secret I am assuming? I know I'm missing something here. Any help is much appreciated.

It appears that putting no password under conf secret allows the phone to register.

That sounds strange.

When you installed which version of vicidial did you select?
I assume your previous server was running 2.2.0?

If you selected to use trunk is the new server install then you need to follow the instructions in /usr/share/astguiclient/trunk/UPGADE to upgrade your system from 2.2.0 to Trunk which is based on 2.4.0

Aside from that I am very concerned that you state that this server is based in co-lo and therefore I assume you have a public IP address.

DO NOT SETUP EXTENSIONS ON A PUBLIC SERVER WITH PASSWORD OF TEST, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE SERVER CONNECTED TO AN ACTIVE TRUNK.

YOU WILL WAKE UP TOMORROW MORNING TO FIND A MASSIVE BILL ON YOUR CARRIER FOR UNAUTHORISED CALLS MADE BY SOME HACKER WHO HAS
FOUND YOUR PUBLIC ASTERISK SERVER AND USED IT TO MAKE CALLS.

The firewall at the co-lo is blocking any traffic not coming from our own IP so I have that much going for us. But I am also concerned that a problem COULD come from our IP address. I'll check the UPGRADE doc under /trunks to see if there are steps I missed. I know I had to remove the conf secret under the server settings as well before I was dialing out. Thanks for the info and I'll let ya know.
