windows authentication

Hello,

I just downloaded the 64 bit version of vicibox, version 3.1.15.

I've installed it on the hd, but during the os-install process, it ends up at a screen where it's asking me for the windows domain to join/authenticate against.

I don't have a windows domain for it to join, nor do I want it to join one, but the only way I can get past this is to abort the whole install, and then each time I boot the system up, it tells me that the install isn't completed properly.

I also had issues with the repositories that were in by default, and I had to use yast and disable 2 repositories, so that zypper refresh would complete, and I could to the update.

Can someone explain why it's wanting to do windows authentication, and how I can disable/skip this, and have it do it's own standard local authentication?

What instructions are you using for your installation? From my memory there is a screen that asks about authentication method, and if you leave it at default it simply uses the standard vicidial authentication. So .. unless you are changing something to cause it to want to use LDAP or some other method of authentication I'm lost.

However: OpenSuSE Did disable (delete?) the 11.3 repositories a week or two ago, so disabling auto-refresh on that is necessary to use the repositories on the .iso for installation until someone locates an 11.3 repository and Kumba alters the install to use it ... or Kumba upgrades us all to 11.4 which may take a while. However, we've used the "on-disk" version with no visible issues several times already.

I'm following the instructions in ViciBox_Redux_v3-Install.pdf which I've done a bunch of times before. I can't post the full URL, since the forum is complaining it looks too spammy. It's on the vicibox download site as "walkthrough".

This time the install was different from every other time, though I used a newer install than usual (I download the latest each time).

I didn't change anything in relation to authentication (or anything else), was pretty much just doing a next next next finish install, then got stuck on the screen where it wanted to connect to a domain, and it needed to download the cifs client, and smbclient, and they couldn't download, and skipping the autorefresh didn't work either, and it kept telling me about "no such widget in class" or something.

In the end I worked out how to use yast to disable the broken repositories, but still had the issue of it wanting to connect to the domain, and no option anywhere that I could find to change that to standard authentication.

I've rebooted the machine a few times since, and it's no longer telling me the install isn't finished anymore, so I don't know..
