Postby farmerjim » Wed Dec 05, 2012 12:42 pm

Just installed Vicibox 4.0 and followed all the instructions in the guide including wanpipe-compile.
Run wancfg_dahdi and right at the end I get

I also find that after a reboot I browse to the server and get the default Apache home page! Vicidial appears not to be running. Trying /etc/init.d/vicidial restart gives me
vicibox:/etc/init.d # (Bvicidial start
If 'vicidial' is not a typo you can use command-not-found to lookup the package that contains it, like this:
cnf vicidial
vicibox:/etc/init.d # (B

What can be wrong. Anyone help with this

your installation is not complete. either you skipped a step or it crashed and did not finish. perhaps you should try installing again and watch for errors.

which version of the .iso are you using? what instructions are you using?

I guessed that! Using vicibox 4.0.1 32 bit with ViciBox_v4-Install.pdf.
I have remote access so need to be able to remove and reinstall vicidial remotely without flattening the server completely

I assume I can't simply run vicibox-install again as it will install another instance of MySQL and Apache. Is that correct?

there is no way to install vicibox or goautodial without starting over.

you can "scratch install" with the appropriate instructions with any functional linux OS, but this is a fairly lengthy/involved process. educational, but lengthy.

if you are fairly adept at linux administration, of course, you can always try to dismantle the .iso install procedure and perform each task manually ... (rough equivalent of a scratch install), but I'd say you'd do better to revisit the location and start over. we never allow a "not quite perfect" installation to "stand". Always start over because if you don't ... you could still be fighting this "not quite perfect" installation in a month. Never enough time to do it right ... but always enough time to do it over.

when you complete your installation, clean reboot. Then test with:

screen -list

You should have 9 or 10 screens. NOT 3 or 4!

OK just done a reinstall and followed the instructions again. When I run vicibox-install I see the following message

I've revisited this several times today with the same results. Browse to the server and I get the default Apache page. vicidial-start gives me a type error and DAHDI won't load.
I followed the instructions to the letter. I'm downloading 4.0.1 and will try that tomorrow to see if I've uncovered a bug in 4.0

There is a reason we use the "latest" available .iso ... LOL
