Campaign which agents have no softphone

Postby facePlanted » Mon Aug 27, 2012 12:17 pm

Hi All, I've searched in the manual, in the vicidial gui and online but can't find a solution:

is it possible to use vicidial only to get the numbers to call,
dial then manually
and then set the status of the dialed number ?

I mean: the agent would login with his usual username and password
but he has no softphone nor forwarding (or callback, as in 'remote agents'),
he then digits the phone number to call and dials it manually on a pstn phone on his desk.
After the hangup he will set the status of the call.

Is that possible ?

Thank you very much for your attention and for supporting,
Mike

Technically yes this would be possible. You would have to setup a carrier entry that would link to a looping sound file or something like that. You would then point a remote agent to that dialplan loop and also set the campaign to dial out via it and the system would think that it was making and passing calls.

We use a similar setup for training campaigns. We have a carrier setup on our dialers which points to another server which just plays a loop of the music on hold file. We can then use that for agents to train on how to use the dialer.

The question I would ask is why on earth would you want to? The agent performance advantages of using a dialer far outweighs the low setup costs associated with vicidial.

Very interesting, thanks fibres for confirming that I can't 'officially' disable the sip phone login / requirement,
thanks for the dialplan loop idea
and thanks for pointing out that the performance report would overcome other benefits.

The initial question is because the agents, working from many locations (remote), will use their own telephony termination equipment.

I'll report back how this ends, thank you very much for your inputs,

you can use a phone configuration for "nophone" which is a fake phone and allows for testing of the user interface. you can also use a special carrier that automatically calls a hangup number (8300).

If i recall, the nophone setup uses "nophone" for the phone extension and "8300" for the dialplan extension and voicemail and "external" instead of SIP.
