Hi,

I've procurred a SCSI drive and have connected it with a card onto the mbd, compiled a new kernel.
Upon rebooting I get :

aic7xxx_ABORT returned 0x2002
commnad already completed

aic7xxx_DEV_RESET returned 0x2002
command not found

aic7xxx_ABORT returned 0x2002
command already completed

Then KERNEL PANIC: cannot mount VFS on sda1

The card specifications are : Adaptec AHA 2840UW / AIC 7881U
The drive is a SEAGATE drive.

Have added SCSI support, added AHA and AIC 7xxx drivers as mentioned in the install_guide

Please advice.

No idea on this one, I never use Adaptec. I much prefer LSILogic MegaRAID cards.

did you install the slackware perfectly?

when installing slackware did you put to get the boot drive on cdrom? the one you configure at first? like sata.i, you must choose it on cd-rom.
