Hi all,am planning to setup a call-centre with roughly 100 agents. My question is:Maximum how many agents can a single server support?

Thanks

what kind of call handling (inbound/outbound/blended)?

What line-to-agent ratio?

will you be using G729 codec?

will you be recording all calls?

what are the specifications on your server? (CPU/RAM)

Thanks for reply.

To answer your questions, i will use VICIbox Server as it is.

For call i will use both inbound and outbound together, on E1 interface using Digium TDM13B PCI card.

Line-to-agent ratio 1:1.

Yes i will be recording some calls-not all calls.

Server specs:

HP ProLiant DL380 G5.
Two Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5345 2.33 GHz.
4GB
HDD 350GBX4

For 100 agents on that hardware you should have at a minimum 3 of those servers, one for DB/Web and two for ViciDial/Asterisk

I am using server with hardware performance like in signature.

How many agents I can connect on goautodial from another location via IAX extensions (client Zoiper) and whether there is differences between using IAX extensions from another location and sip extensions which is located in lan or not ?
As far as load balancing of server whether the same 20 IAX extensions (another locations) like 20 sip extensions (lan) !?

I have a bandwidth on server 10/10Mbps !

At this moment I have 20 agents on another location (remote agents) and they access to goautodial via zoiper and iax extensions. Agents computers have installed windows xp sp1 and they are using firefox but I have a problem with browser of agents because it freeze and when agents click on "dial next"(manual campaign) they waiting 10 or more seconds to see number lead in fields and also when agents click "hangup" after 10 seconds call being disconnected.
When I use my laptop with installed windows 7 everything works fine with agent interface !? Now I am little bit confused because I don't know what is the problem and how much is important agent machines for goautodial ? or remote access via iax extensions are too heavy for goautodial ?
My bandwidth at agents is 30/30Mbps and on server is 10/10Mbps?

Assume (for the sake of argument) 100k per logged in agent through the pipe for external agents. but the number of calls being made on that pipe will also affect throughput. there is negligible difference between iax and sip, but if you have the ability to IAX Trunk by putting an asterisk server at that remote location, the IAX trunk can cut down overhead (in theory by grouping multiple calls with one control channel).

I've never seen real world numbers on this, only calculations by smart people ... but none of the numbers are then compared to reality after the setup. They are all in agreement, however, that IAX trunking can reduce overhead by enough to notice the difference if you can group your calls (from the agents or to the provider) into trunks.
