Hi

We are about to move to some new hosted servers for our vicidial systems.

One of the reasons is to move from VmWare as I suspect it may be causing issues.

We are currently using ubuntu 8.04 on our servers, however by default the new servers will come with 10.04LTS is this going to cause any issues?

Is anyone using 10.04 for vicidial?

If it is better to stick with 8.04 I will install 8.04 on them.

Any advice and opinions welcome.

Regards

I have a silly question:

why not use Vicibox Redux latest revision?

I have possibly an even more silly question.

What is Vicibox Redux? Im guessing its a ready to run install iso?

Is this designed for production environment?

I have been using vicidial for a number of years. statrted on Slackware and then moved to ubuntu. I am used to building from scrath.

Hi

I have now looked at the site and that looks like a good way to install.

One question. We have servers with all our extension, carrier and campaign configs running 2.2.1 If I was to install the new server using Vicibox.
I know I would need to upgrade our database on existing server via upgrade scripts to 2.4 but would it then be ok to drop the database on the vicibox and upload our current upgraded database?

Regards

Redux will install 2.2.1 if you ask it nicely. :)

It will even "add a new dialer" to an existing cluster. Read the multi-server install for redux.

i have 3 ubuntu server 10.04 running in one of my clients data centers and so far its good, its installed with the latest vicidial 2.4 svn version, you just need to do some tweaking for eaccelerator to work well with it, ubuntu 8.04 and ubuntu 8.10 is also stable as most of the servers I maintain run on them.

Um ... tweaking? how about posting the tweaking? Share! (without eAccelerator, our studies have shown it uses 5X the processing power for web agents ...) eAccelerator is very handy ... so if you needed to "tweak" to get it online ... share the method. 8)

We are looking to upgrade to 2.4 at same time so im happy to go that route. Just checking on best way to bring our existing database with all setting and lists over.

This is going to be a single server setup for now.

It is being installed on a 2 x quad core xeon with 8gb ram.

Yes, please share this "tweaking" you did. I am about to install ViciDial on Debian 6.0 which is very much in line with Ubuntu 10.04.
