Adding dialer server to all-in-one server possible?

Postby gerhard » Wed Apr 18, 2012 7:15 am

The most cluster configurations I read about is a combination of: one web+db server and one or more dialer-servers.

I currently have an all-in-one (web+db+asterisk) server (V2.2.1 from Vicibox 3.1.10), and want to increase dialing capacity.

My question is this: Can I add an asterisk-server to the all-in-one server to create a cluster? My cluster would thus consist of :

1 web+db+asterisk server
1 asterisk server

Both servers would then have phones registered on them, and both PCs would make calls.

I don't see a problem with this at all. You may want to have a few of the more senior guys comment.

If you are using a ViciBox ISO, I would just ensure that you are installing the same version of Asterisk on both, and follow the instructions to set up the machine as a dialer only, supplying it the proper information (IP, DB_name, username, password) to connect to your "all-in-one" box that is running mySQL.

Restart both servers (make sure the DB is booted up again first), connect to your Apache server, and you should be able to see both servers listed in the Admin section and you can make your phone extensions/dialplans available on the new one now.
