Network Breakup

Postby Srinivasa Rao » Wed Jul 04, 2012 2:33 am

Hi Everyone,

Need Help,

Following are my server details

1. Asterisk 1.4.42
2. vicidial 2.2.1
3. 4 Port Digium Card
4. Cent OS
5. Soft Phone Zoiper

I am using the vicidial application from past two years, it is very nice.
my problem is, I am getting network breakup between Agent desktop and Vicidial server, after that my agent desktop is not able to communicate with the vicidial server. In my gui application i am getting a java-script error. To resume this my agent needs to re-login to application.

Please help me to sort out this problem.

1) Welcome to the Party! 8-)

2) when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build.

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "from scratch" you must post your operating system and should also post the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Similar to This:

Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600

(I see 1.4.42 and 2.2.1, but there more X's up there .... and your installation method is important)

3) You will need to find out what the network breakup is all about. That's the problem. You drop packets between agent and Vicidial and you "disconnect" the agent. Either overloaded network, harmful software running on a computer on the network, bad router/switch, or a firewall issue (firewall in Vicidial server or elsewhere on the local network). But to repeat: your problem as stated by you was "network breakup" ... that's not something that can be resolved within the Vicidial application framework.

have you checked for dropped packets between your agents "Logged in screen" and the vicidial system?

Ya william, we are getting the drop packets between agent desk and vicidial system, When I check with the ping command, some times it is coming as Request Timedout instead of reply from the server.

When I communicate with the network administrator, they are talking about percentage of packet loss.
Suppose In 2000 packets it is dropping 5 packets. so the loss percentage is 0. The network administrator saying it is negligible.

sorry, there are no negligible packets in Vicidial. If you drop packets to your agent screen, vicidial will not work.

there is never a reason to drop a packet between vicidial and the agent screen. find out why it is happening and you'll solve your network problem.
