transfer call through vicidial

Postby rsaaris » Thu Oct 25, 2012 4:49 am

We need to get a call to be transferred or tunneled from one Vicidial server (server1) to another. Example: Customer calls number 123 which is not in oud DIDs but it is in our number block. This call should be forwarded to another server (server2) so that the original caller id is shown in the server2. In the server2 there could be the DID 123 call is handled properly. If I configure the DID 123 to the server1 and link it to go to an custom extension, how can I get it to ring the to the server2 with the original caller id? Or is it possible? This is only for testing purpose so dont't ask why we don't configure the DID to the server1 in the first place and settle with that. :-) Hope this isn't too confusing.

Our main goal is to route calls first into our new vicidial system and if DID and/or inbound groups are not configured the call would go to our old system through E1 connection.

Set up your old server as a "remote agent" on a special campaign and ingroup ... and point the "default did" (the one that gets used if there is no matching DID found) to that ingroup.

The rest is in the Vicidial Manager's Manual, I expect. If any pieces are missing, feel free to ask ... (I try to avoid reprinting the manual here ... it's copyrighted and all ...).

If you don't want to use the manual, use the (?) inside the remote agents section ... it's not particularly hard to set up a remote agent. 8-)

The old system is in fact not a vicidial but a MD110 swichboard. So the remote agent solution is not an option. Sorry for being a little vague on the details. One of the problems is to set up a E1 connection between the swichboard and the Sangoma E1-card on the vicidial server.

Regardless of your connection (E1, T1, SIP, IAX ...) your ultimate solution will be either a remote agent or a logged in agent. If your goal is to direct dial to a specific agent inside this other system ... logged in agents is perfect. If however you merely intend to "send the call to the old system" and handle it however you used to handle it (but passing the call through Vicidial to get there ...) remote agents IS how this is accomplished. (at least, it's one method ... and the coolest part is that those calls would be available on the RealTime report in Vicidial and even reportable in the reports section).

You could also just create a custom dialplan and pass the call through that in asterisk to the E1 connection ... but then you lose reporting and visibility and the call is still actually passing through the vicidial server. Same load, no reporting.

At this point, however, you are asking pure asterisk questions regarding Sangoma settings to connect your Vicidial E1 to be the "telco" for the old telephone system ... this may not be the best place to get this kind of advice.

I do know, however, that both Gardo and Kumba have extensive experience with Sangoma products (Kumba, in my opinion having more detailed information of the two ...). But you may have your best luck with Sangoma directly. Be sure you have model numbers and configuration information for your E1 connections (especially the settings your legacy system was using!) handy.

This problem is solved. The remote agends did the trick. For start I just needed to get the E1 connections from carrier to vicidial and from vicidial to MD to work. Vicidial - MD -connection was pretty simple. I just had to put the vicidial to act in PRI_NET -mode. Remote agents then calls (example 5551234 that goes as 1234 to the MD) to that E1-connection with extensions from the MD-system. Now I have to do the same thing with production E1-connections...
