Where/what is vicidial CLI? How to use?

Postby devin » Thu Jan 10, 2013 11:29 am

Hello, i'm new to vidicial and currently i'm using elastix. I'm trying to configure it 'cause it seem more reliable for my work.
I've some difficult to set up the system. In carriers i've copied the carrier registration form that i used for elastix and that work fine for me and my voip account (voipdiscount).

I would like to know more about Vicidial CLI

1) Where is CLI?
2) How i should use it?

I've seen a lot of post about how to verify my carrier status (I would like to know if it's registred or not), every on refers to Cli sip show client /peers

Thanks for your help

OK, well download putty... and log on to your dialler as root

type in "asterisk -r", then hit enter

then type in "sip show registry" and "sip show peers" to get that sort of info...

"cli" is available in two forms: First there is the Linux CLI. This is available by sitting down directly at the console of the server OR via a remote terminal application such as PuTTY (google: Chiark Putty). In either case, your user name will be root and the password will be vicidial, or vicidialnow or whatever you set it to during installation.

After you are in the Linux CLI, the asterisk CLI is available by entering:

Code: Select all
asterisk -R

You may quit this asterisk CLI by entering "exit".

The asterisk CLI is educational. Leave it running while your server is operational for a while and you will get used to it. Eventually, it'll be as easy to read as the Matrix for Neo. :)

Oh, standard newbie suggestions:

when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build.

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "from scratch" you must post your operating system and should also post the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Similar to This:

Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600
