Hi,
Could anyone please help me. I'm new with the vicidial server. I had used vicidial before but not the server. I had installed the server and tried to connect the workstations that I had and it can connect.

My question would be, is it really fine that the vicidial server is under dos prompt? Is my installation correct?

Please anyone help me.

Thanks

Hi and welcome!

first of all, its not DOS! *facepalm*
If I understand you right, your question is "I don't see any graphical interface, have I done something wrong?"

And the answer is:
No, that is how its suppose to be, you control most of vicidial with the admin web-interface
and you login to a console environment to edit files if you have to.
you dont want any graphical interface running on your server that would eat all resources. a server is suppose to be text-only

Thank you for this. Sorry for my term since I'm just new to vicidial.
I'm having difficulty, I've finished the installation and I can already access the IP address from the workstation but I can't seem to connect it to a softphone, particularly on eyebeam. What could be the problem on this?
And is it fine if I only have 1 network card on my vicidial server? If so, how can I configure the IP address that is given to me by my ISP provider? Sorry if I ask too many questions since I don't have money to pay for the tech support.

Thank you.

1) I see DomeDan haas already welcomed you to the Party! 8-)

2) when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build.

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "from scratch" you must post your operating system and should also post the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Similar to This:

Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600

3) Start by downloading the Vicidial Manager's Manual from the eflo.net site (free version is fine, but I HIGHLY recommend the paid version!). Start at the beginning of that manual, read and "do" every tutorial/exercise from the beginning to the end. DO NOT skip anything even if you are certain you should. Do it anyway. LOL. This advice will cause you to have a much better understanding of your server and will likely cause it to become FUNCTIONAL. :)

4) Never Fear the Reinstall! It's free software. Reinstalling it three our four times will merely make you more comfortable with it. It's NOT a waste of time to become familiar with software you'll likely be making your living with for the next several years. Really. It'll likely save you support $$ and be well worth your time.

Happy Hunting! :)

Always post the Vicidial Version with Build. Everything else is "helpful" but that is a requirement.

Oh: Vicibox install's OpenSuSE (which is the OS) for you.

Hi could anybody help me. I'm not a programmer and don't understand several programming techniques. I'm trying to connect on a server using my ViciBox.x86_64-4.0.1 /Intel Core i5 with 8gb memory and 500gb hdd/ Single server/ no other installation after.
Do I need my public ip address for me to be able to connect to our provider?

Thank you.

read the manual, available free at eflo.net (there's also a paid version which has much more information in it ... but the basic free version will cover what you need).

for 99% of carriers, you do not need a public IP address to make or receive calls. it can be done within your local network through your router when properly configured.
