internet not active in other pc

hi i have install goauto dial now.. all are working bt the machine from which agents log in .. in dat machine internet is not active ..
i have no router no switch...
i have connected first internet wire to dailer and from dailer to agent's pc
so,... can anyone help me to resolve dis problem..??

1) Welcome to the Party!

2) You cannot have a local network without a router or switch. If you have two network ports in your dialer (one for net and one for the agent to connect directly to the dialer ...), you will need a special "crossover cable" to make that direct connection. Simpler to use a switch. IE: Hook both the agent computer and the local network port from the dialer to the same switch. Then a regular network wire will work fine. Without the router, the special cable is necessary to connect directly between two machines.

3) You may want to hire a hungry recent IT graduate (or student) and have them help you set up your local network. It is not necessary that the local network have any connection to the internet, but you'll need at least a switch to have more than one agent (or to avoid the need for that special crossover cable).

well right now m jst testing dat is it working or not...

not happening boss!!!!
i have used cross cable between dailer and local pc but same thing is going on..
wen i ping google from dailer its giving rplys but wen i do the same from local pc or the agents pc, its showing time out...
the ip which i set in local computer is
ip : 192.168 1 x
sub. mask : 255 255 255 0
d.gateway : 192.168.1 2
prefferd dsn : 8.8 8 8
altr dsn :4.2 2 2
is there any changes to do..??

that would be because the configuration to "share" internet by turning your vicidial server into a router is not what we were discussing. LOL

that's a different forum entirely. if you want to share your internet, put in a router. this forum does not deal with turning a server into a router as that is counterproductive to server load requirements.

you could look at an application called squid, i believe.

you should not be modifying any .conf files manually. you should be following the installation instructions for whichever .iso you installed with and then the Vicidial Manager's Manual (beginning to end, skip nothing) for system configuration.

here are some hints:
when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and vicidial version with build.

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "from scratch" you must post your operating system and should also post the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Note: Trying to "wing it" without using instructions can make this process take weeks. The same thing applies to "using your IT skills" instead of "following the directions". LOL

Start at the beginning. Reinstall. Open the Vicidial Manager's manual and don't skip anything. If you hit a snag, pop on here and ask for help while giving us the error you see on your screen and the page/line number you are on in the manual (that's what it's for ... to allow you to install without paying a guy like me to do it for you or pulling all your hair out!).

a switch is not a router and cannot be used to replace one. you can use a switch to link vicidial to multiple workstations, but you must have a router between that local network and the Net.

If you have a router between you and the net, the you can connect the switch to the router and workstations and vicidial to the switch.
