Move from Goautodial to ViciBox

Postby lucky » Thu Feb 14, 2013 8:48 am

Hey guys what's up? Let me just say great job. I love Vici. It thought me alot about alot. Support has been excellent.
I have been using it for a while now and this is the first time signing up. Long overdue....
Anyway I wanted to know if I made the switch from Goautodial to Vicibox would I still be able to import my backed up Databases?
I need to do some Surveys and from configuring and reading I noticed that my current version doesn't support more than two (2) questions per survey.

Help me out....

BTW I made sure to do my signature with my SETUP cause I can't take William on my back......and I quote "When you post, be sure to include..........", you guys know the rest.....LOL

Thanks,
LUCKY

What? No asterisk version? And no Installer version? No reference to your Clustering instructions? And what was that about someone being on your back? LOL

Assuming you have not modified your database outside the Vicidial interface, your Vicidial backup should restore in a Vicibox install quite well. But do remember that you will need to upgrade the database during the reinstall process.

Most technicians are more comfortable building a whole new machine (even if only a virtual one) and restoring into that ... then verifying functionality before deleting the prior machine. It means you can abandon the attempt without cost at any time. The old machine is still there and ready to use.

Sigh....even after all of that.....my poor back...lol......

I think i'm gonna test it first as you said. I did no modification to the Database but in future I would like to do some custom reports, not sure how to do them as yet though.

Thanks,

BTW...Please note the updated signature.....lol

Asterisk 1.4 is close ... but there are many flavors of asterisk 1.4. You should note which one it is (I say this because there are special distros of asterisk which The Vicidial Group has patched ... good to know if you are using one of those, and if so which one ...). And the monkey grows.

Custom reports are done in two basic ways: Modifying an existing report (actually, duplicating it and modifying the dupe and then adding your new version to the Reports Page) or just creating a mysql/php page which gets its information from the asterisk database. Both have advantages. Neither will harm the DB. Both will require being "re-added" to the Reports Links if you want one IN Vicidial after creating them each time you upgrade.
