Hi
I have installed Asterisk 11.4, installed astguiclient 2.7.
I haven't installed apache web server as it was given as optional.
Could you please tell me if I have to install this if I have to see Admin and Agent GUI pages?
Thanks
Praveena

Hi
What scratch install instructions are you following?
Asterisk 11.4 does not work well with vicidial yet, I guest there was some talk about that in a topic here.
You need apache on at least one server, else you wont be able to access the GUI.
It doesn't sound like you should do a scratch install, why not use the excellent vicibox iso install that installs everything for you?

Thanks for the reply.
We cannot install this kind of software which will install right from OS. We have to work on existing RedHat linux.
And also I am not understanding why apache web server is required and where actaulyl we integrate this with astguiclient.
After installing astguiclient, I typed the url for admin.php, it didn't display anything.
Does this astguiclient works only till Asterisk version 1.8? Then I should wipe out my existing ASterisk 11.4 and isntall ASterisk 1.8.
Please guide me. I am new to ASterisk and Vicidial.
Thanks

This is in the BETA testing phase currently, and is not recommended for use in production at this time. While we have performed a lot of testing, we have not tested this in production, so you have been warned.
If you choose to upgrade an existing system, please make note of the many conf file changes(extensions.conf and manager.conf) that will need to be made for Vicidial to function properly while interfacing with Asterisk 1.8. Also, make sure that the Admin -> Servers -> modify server "Asterisk Version" setting is set properly for the version you have installed on that server.
To download a version of Asterisk 1.8 that we are working from, go to:
http://downloads.vicidial.com/beta-apps/To download the Vicidial code changes, just upgrade or download the latest svn/trunk snapshot.
But
you need apache, apache is a webserver, and you need a webserver because vicidial is web-based, you use a webbrowser to administrate leads and campaigns and agents use it to view lead data etc.
and again, what install instructions do you follow?
I would recommend you install vicibox in either a virtual environment or an old workstation laying around, just for testing and learning.

I am following the below url, but took the latest versions of ASterisk and astguiclient.
But when I am installing astguiclient, it asked what is the version of Asteriskm it had 3 options 1.2, 1.4, 1.8
won't it support 1.8 also, do I need to go back to Asterisk 1.4?
In our company, installing OS is not allowed, so I cannot install vicibox.

Install it using 1.4 to begin with and then you can upgrade to 1.8 by compiling it and install.
http://astguiclient.sourceforge.net/scr ... stall.htmlNot all of these software packages are manditory to successfully install Asterisk and some of them can be
installed on other machines on your network like MySQL or Apache. But, in this
installation we are assuming that there are no other machines on our network to
help the Asterisk server, so it must have everything it needs installed locally.
*OPTIONAL* (only install Apache and PHP locally if you don't want to use an installation on another machine)
And its as I said, its optional to install apache on either the local machine or an other machine in the network, but it is required on at least one machine

1.
My requirement is as below.
From my client applcaiton, when I click on click to Talk button, user should be able to talk to CSR. CSR must also should be able to see the customer information and some other information coming from the client applicaiton. Additional requirement is that if a particular CSR is busy call should be directed to another available representative.
Actually I don't even know how I have to implement this. I started with installing Asterisk to try out.
After installing Asterisk 11.4, I made call going from client application going to softphone at the CSR desktop.
If you can guide as per my requirement, it will be very useful.
I don't see the need for two asterisk boxes for this requirement, please guide me in this too. In the past some other team had implemented it but now no document for that. They said they have implemented using two asterisk boxes one for agent and one for client and the person who did is not available now. I really don't see the need to have two Asterisk boxes.
Please give me your suggestions.
2. Do we have any other open source products like vicidial which will work with Asterisk 11.4 ?

1. sounds like normal inbound or something, setup a campaign and try it.
Read, read and read in the forums and the manual.
If you get stuck then I recommend you post in the "Jobs - Requests for Consultation" board and pay someone to set it up for you.
2. I don't know, there is probably something out there, but I haven't tried any other because vicidial perfectly fits my needs and I like GPL
