I have set up the latest Goautodial and I have noticed that when I ring a customer manually the agent is not able to hear the phone ring, I am wondering why this would be, and how to fix this

It's because the "ring" sound is a fake generated sound to let the person know they are using a telephone. You would need to append -r to the Dial string command in your Carrier trunk settings.
