how do we avoid echo during a calls?

I wonder why we are experincing a bad echo during a calls..were also using a softphone..check already the echo cancelation..its the same issue ...still have an echo

Probably bad headsets
or you need to tweak the sound/mic settings, maybe the mic boost setting (at least that exists in gnu/linux)

coz were using a ekiga softphone in ubuntu..
dont know how to deal with it..

I've found linphone a lot less trouble - it has echo cancellation settings in the config file (not accessible from GUI), ~/.linphonerc
There is a list of variables on the linphone site, but the forum won't let me paste the link. Google "Tuning linphone | Linphone, an open-source video sip phone" - first search result.

I'm using Ekiga too and Debian,
play around with alsamixer and test call someone,
and try an other headset

We are ussing linphone 3.6.1 in ubuntu.
The echo cancelation parameters we have set are:
ec_delay=200
ec_tail_len=150
ec_frame_size=128
The echo cancelation works..... sometimes. Any idea?

try a different headset. preferably usb.
