Cluster Setup

Postby chasejordan1 » Wed Sep 18, 2013 11:01 am

Here is my setup/scenario...

DB Server - Quad Core 3.0 ghz, 8 gig ram
Web Server - Quad Core 3.0 ghz, 4 gig ram
Asterisk Server1 - Quad Core 3.0 ghz, 4 gig ram
Asterisk Server2 - Dual Core 3.0 ghz, 4 gig ram
Vicibox5.x86_64-5.0.3.preload - Version: 2.8-409a - Build: 130809-1410 - all calls recorded.

I have 50 agents dialing 5 to 1. My question is should I have half the agents softphone register to asterisk server1 and the other half register to asterisk server2 or have all agents register to asterisk server1 and then load balance dial putting limit on asterisk server1 at 125 then the rest of the calls would roll to asterisk server2.

Which is the best setup to keep load at minimum.

Thank you in advance.

There are many answers to that. But none of them count. Use "htop" to view the server load and decide for yourself. Different rooms have different experiences.

I will say that most rooms we work with (after testing that scenario) will use load balancing for the agents which will evenly spread the agents on both machines and allow the dialer to "prefer" to give the call to a local agent before sending it to an agent on the other server. That tends to reduce inter-server calls thus reducing load. But each room is different.
